The purpose of the Congress is to provide a common platform for practitioners of various physical and ecological sciences, engineering fields, economics, and social sciences to exchange emerging ideas about ways and means of protecting the environment and its resources so that humans can achieve sustained economic growth and societal benefits through generations. The focus of this Congress is managing natural resources sustainability from a systems perspective using scientific and engineering innovations. 

ICOSSE will focus on the AIChE Sustainability Index on products and processes.

ACHEMA is the world forum of the process industry and the trend-setting technology summit for chemical engineering, environmental protection and biotechnology. The 30^th ACHEMA will again be the leading international meeting point for decision-makers and experts from all related industries.

The American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) and Society for Chemical and Biotechnology (DECHEMA) is launching the “International Certificate on Sustainable Standards for Engineering (ICOSSE)” label at ACHEMA 2012. 

ACHEMA 2012 is the 30th International Exhibition Congress on Chemical Engineering, Environmental Protection and Biotechnology. The ICOSSE certificate will be offered based on the credible AIChE Sustainability Index which consists of a questionnaire, application form, and evaluation by an advisory board. Designated sustainability products, processes, or services will receive recognition and be displayed on a dedicated website along with the certificate logo.
